An award-winning catering company, Ampersand Catering is based in central London and caters for the public, institutions and private parties.
Whether it’s about catering for the London Zoo, the Tower of London or Kensington Palace; for restaurants such as Rum & Sugar, or for weddings, parties and corporate events, Ampersand needed to grab site visitors’ attention instantly. It also required Google to pick up as much content as possible to help the site move up the rankings.
And that’s where totalsurf came in. We devised a concept that meant presenting Google with five times more information than what would normally be visible on a homepage, but without bombarding visitors with content. The content is pre-loaded so that it is ready, but is not displayed until an user requests it.
We also designed five distinct site ‘zones’ to separate the different sectors and target audiences. This involved creating five unique colour ways that change on every element of the site as the user navigates through sections. Users in the ‘Event Catering’ zone, for example, will see all supporting elements in purple, but these change to olive green in the ‘Venue Catering’ zone. This visual language enhances the user experience and makes navigating simpler.
There was a particularly tight deadline on the job, which we helped meet by writing and editing the bulk of the copy for Ampersand, using our trusted in-house copywriting skills.
