Things have started to become very expensive in my family life.
When our children were very little, (and in fact, before they came along), we could head off on holiday, hire a car and end up with a credit card bill of a maximum of one thousand pounds. But now our oldest is at a school, we have joined the hordes of people who have to pay inflated school holiday prices for exactly the same holiday, car hire etc. as normal. Sometimes it costs around four times as much – ouch!
One of things we always like to get on holiday, is a hire car, just so we can have the freedom to head to the supermarket easily, head out to beaches, exciting places and wonderful places to eat, and for an upcoming holiday, this is no exception.
I was just about to hire a car at what (for the school holiday period), I thought was a good deal – less than £300 for a Skoda estate for a week in Menorca. I was about to click buy when I came across a comparison site who specialise in car hire and car hire excess insurance.
I was blown away by the prices! Not only did their car hire comparison service get me the same car for £75 – yes, you read that right, SEVENTY FIVE POUNDS, but I also got an annual car hire excess insurance policy for under £30! I actually ended up spending a little more (Still only £34!) as I wanted to cover any courtesy vehicles when I have my own car in a garage (there is usually a £750 excess on this).
So all in all, it was a really good money saving click, so I would recommend you do the same and save yourself a lot of money when you go on holiday
