Split into two opposing factions, the Terrorists and the Counter-Terrorists, our latest competition involved completing objectives like securing locations to plant or defuse bombs and rescuing or guarding hostages, earning in-game currency based on their performance to purchase more powerful weapons. Congrats go to our new IT Technical Sales Executive, Harrison Parrish (pictured right), who scooped the trophy as the top player.
During the tournament, the competitive atmosphere is palpable, with team members bringing in their own controllers and headsets from home to gain any possible advantage over their colleagues. Despite the intensity, the event serves a greater purpose within the company culture.
“The tournament has grown and evolved into an intense event that we all look forward to,” says totalsurf director Chris Brown. “The event is fantastic for team morale. When else do you get the chance to scream, shout and insult your workmates – even the boss – and end up laughing and smiling, as it’s all done in a healthy competitive spirit?”
What makes the tournament even more fun is its rotating format. Everyone gets the opportunity to select their video game of choice for the monthly event, ranging from first-person shooters such as Counter-Strike to party games, racing titles, and sports games. This variety ensures that no single person dominates the competition, with trophies being distributed across the team.
