At the end of a long, hot and occasionally stressful week, striving to get our clients’ websites to the top of internet search rankings, the totalsurf team loves nothing more than getting up to some silly shenanigans – like racing radio-controlled cars around our office car park.
So this past Friday, when all the sensible cars had gone home for the weekend, it was time to bring out our much smaller (but infinitely more entertaining) alternatives. First up: an iconic yellow Tamiya Lunchbox, that chunky beast familiar to children of the 80s. Second: a sleeker, faster model, dubbed Carnage 2.0.
Selfless copywriter Beth Ellison proved herself either incredibly brave or completely barmy by volunteering her mobile phone for the cause. Armed with gaffer tape, we strapped her device onto totalsurf boss Chris Brown’s very own mini racer, creating our very own budget action camera setup.
The result? Footage that captured every bump and jump in glorious shaky-cam style – think Jackass meets Wacky Races. (click here to watch the action)
Not content with simple racing, intrepid copywriter Nick Barber put his faith in Chris’s RC driving abilities by lying down under a ramp hastily constructed from an old office desk. Fortunately, Chris’s skills proved up to the task. The Carnage mean machine sailed over the makeshift jump – all two metres of it – as Nick breathed a sigh of relief.
Then the rest of the team got their hands on the controllers, managing to crash both vehicles straight into a brick wall more than once. (Don’t worry, Beth’s phone miraculously survived without so much as a scratch.)
You might wonder why an SEO and digital marketing agency like totalsurf spends Friday evenings playing with toy cars in a car park. It’s simple, really: sometimes the best way to recharge your creative batteries is to do something completely daft with brilliant people.
And they call it office work? We call it critical research into the aerodynamic properties of the iPhone!
It’s very simple. Just fill in the form and we will be in touch with your reports. We will also ask you to book a 30 min call with us so we can run through the report and explain what the issues are with your site, what your goals are and how we can help you.
